Q: How I can get free credit report once a year allowed by the government?
How I can get free credit report once a year allowed by the government?
Is there a truly a free credit report? I just want to get my credit report. Help me please.
A: AnnualCreditReport.com is the site mandated by the FTC to allow online access to your free annual credit reports from each of the three credit bureaus. This is the only site that doesn't require you to sign up for monitoring services. Reports are free; scores are not.
Q: credit report?
why on my 3in1 credit report i have 3 different credit scores. they average to 635 but they are so different. does anyone know what that means. how will that effect me bying or leasing a truck. thanks for your help.
A: Auto finance is what I do for a living and there are several thing in play here.
First, there are three credit bureaus and each one has their own way of calculating your score, add to this that all lenders do not report to all credit bureaus and some do not report at all and you begin to see why there is so much difference in the three scores.
Second, auto loan lenders pull whats called a "Auto enhanced" bureau which favors you because it scores higher then a regular bureau based on your installment credit profile. So your scores on the "Auto enhanced" bureau should be higher.
Third, all lenders look at different bureaus, it depends on what State you live in and what your Zip code is. The Finance Manager will review your credit and decide which lender to send it to based on his knowledge of which lender looks at which bureau.
Q: Credit Report?
Im reviewing my credit report and on the TansUnion one i have a past due balance for a MRI i recieved years ago (prob 10 years ago). The Account Status says: Collection, and it doesn't show up in the 30/60/90 days past due. Is this hurting my credit? Will paying it help my credit score?
A: Yes, it's hurting your score.
Send a dispute letter to the credit bureau.
What dates are on this report? when was it reported? You may want to send demand to validate letter to the collection agency and ask them to explain themselves or wind up with a lawsuit for posting inaccurate info on your report.

HELP ME PLZ I WONT TO BUY A CELL FONE IN MY NAME N A CAR?????!!!!!!!
A: It sounds like you have a mixed file with someone else. Since you used freecreditreports.com (Experian) you can dispute the errors through Experian. Did you order a 3 in 1 report or just a single Experian report ?
If you ordered a 3 in 1, you will only be able to dispute the Experian report and not the other 2. If you want to dispute the other 2, you have order a report directly from the other 2 bureaus. Why ? Because they require you to have a report number and each of the bureaus provides their own report numbers.
If you did not order a 3 in 1 - follow these steps...
1. Contact Experian and dispute everything including any addresses that are not yours and tell them you may have a mixed file with someone else who has a similar name or similar spelling.
2. Go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
You will need to order a Transunion and Equifax credit report from that site. It's free because you are entitled to 1 free credit report a year from that site.
3. After you have the Transunion and Equifax report, dispute everything that is not yours including addresses. Call the bureaus and let them know that you may have a mixed file and it needs to be corrected.
The dispute process cannot take more than 30 days and you should have a new report within a month. You should get into the habit of checking your reports once a year for accuracy. And if you have a security concern (id theft), ask the bureaus what steps you can take to reduce the risk.
Good luck !

Q: How often does Household Bank report to credit bureaus?
I recently got a Household Bank credit card in order to help build up my credit score. I have only used the card for small purchases and have paid off the balances for 2 months (the amount of time I've had the card) but no payments have shown up on my credit report as of yet. I was under the impression that Household Bank reported to the credit bureaus every month. Does anyone know when the payments might show up?

Q: How do I fix credit report when the credit card company is no longer in business?
I am in the process of trying to buy a home and recently reviewed my credit report. I noticed that one account was still reported as opened with a balance.
About 4 years ago, I had a credit card account with Conseco Greentree Financial services. The balance was sold off to another company when Conseco went bankrupt. I've since paid off the balance. I called the company that serviced the loan and they said there's nothing they can do since they don't appear anywhere on my credit report.
How cn I get this fixed? I can get Conseco to fix this since they are no longer in existence! HELP!!
A: Dispute the credit account with the credit bureau. The credit bureau will try to contact the credit card company and when they find out they do not exist anymore you should automatically win the dispute and the account will be removed.
Good luck!
Q: How do I dispute negative items on my credit report?
I have one negative item on my credit report. How do I dispute this item? I have heard that if you dispute an item and that particular company does not acknowledge it can be removed from the report all together. Is this true, and how do I go about doing this? The negative item is from Mac Tools Distribution, if that will help. There is an address on my report although there is no phone number. Do i need to call them, or a different source?
A: Big O... You have to write or type ( I cant remember which one)the credit reporting agency a formal letter and it has to be done in a certain way... They have books at the book store on how to do it.. If the negative item is legit. I can tell you through experience they are not going to remove it... Make sure you check all three credit reports . Experian, Trans Union, and Equafax.. Also while you are at it make sure you have them correct any mistakes on it to clean it up so it looks nice and neat when creditors pull it up.. Mistakes can be taken care of over the phone once you actually have the credit reports by all three . Hope this helped you....God bless you !
Q: How long does debt stay on a credit report?
I am helping my best friend clear up her finances and she has many, many old collection notices on her credit report that are helping to drag her rating down. They are probably 4-7 years old. Do these ever fall off? Or get written off? It seems like they just keep transferring them to other agencies. She also has a Household Bank credit card in collections - should this be paid first or the old debt? She tried to make arrangements with the collection agency for Household but they wanted much more a month than she could give them, and they refused to make arrangements so right now they are getting nothing. Help - I am not sure where to start. :(
A: Negative Items remain on your credit report for 7 years from the date of the negative item. So if the account was "charged-off" it will remain on the report for 7 years from the date of the last delinquency(missed payment). It does not mean the debt goes away, it just means that the creditors can no longer report it to the credit reporting agencies(TransUnion, experian, Equifax).
Creditors, and collection agencies, can not re-age a debt. So it does not matter how many times they transfer it, the date that matters is the original delinquency date. If she has debts that are more than 7 years she needs to send a dispute to the CRA's to have it removed.
Now there is another item called the legal Statute of Limitations. This is a point after which they can no longer force you to pay by filing a suit against you. This is usually 3-6 years depending on the state you live in. So if she has them in the 4-7 year range there is a good chance they are outside of the SOL and can not take any legal actions. The link below gives you a break-down by state.
If she does want to pay them off, only communicate through the mail, NEVER negociate over the phone. Have her send her offer with what she can pay each month. Also, include that once she pays it off that they remove the collection account. DO NOT send any money to them until they have an agreement in writting from them that they approve.
Q: How do you negotiate delinquencies off your credit report?
Someone on here once wrote this. But has anyone ever done it:
"When you pay off your medical collections, before you send any checks to them you should try to negotiate the removal of these items from your report by the collection agencies. Get it in writing. Otherwise everything stays on for 7 years. That's a long time to pay for youthful troubles. "
Say I pay off all my debts, can I ask each of them to remove the debt from my credit report? And how would having it in writing help?
A: The debt will be removed if they want to remove it. Some collectors will advise you to pay in full than they will remove it and others will remove it with a settlement...than there are some that like being a$$holes and dont remove it either way. Be sure to get that in writing before you pay.
If they dont want to delete it...they really dont have to. They have the right to keep it on for 7 years. But they do have to update it according to how you paid them. "Paid in full collection account" or "settled in full collection account".
And no it will not appear as just paid in full or settled in full. It will show that it was a collection account.
However, like I said...depends on who the collector is that your dealing with...they might just hook you up with a deletion...otherwise, if there going to be a$$holes about it...you really cant do anything.
TIP: Attempt to negotiate with bill collectors about 5 days before the end of the month. Thats when they are all frantic trying to make their quotes.
Good Luck
Q: How do you dispute judgements on your credit report?
I have 2 judgements on my credit report that aren't true. I am trying to clean up my credit without paying someone $700.00. Please help if you know anything about getting inquiries and other old accounts, and accounts that doesn't belong to me.
A: In accordance to the Fair Reporting Act, you need to dispute the charges to the 3 major credit bureaus( Experian, Transunion, and Equifax). They are required to notify any entity that has placed a disputed claim. This is a little bit of a joke as the entity only has to respond that they have documentation proving sum is owed, but the credit reporting company will provide you with the information needed to rectify the problem.
Working with the courts is going to be difficult, but not impossible. To speed up the process you can hire an attorney, but it may cost more than the judgments themselves.
Hope this helps.
Q: How do I fix my credit report for a charge account I am a cosigner of?
I cosigned a credit card loan for my brother. He racked up thousands and stopped paying over a year ago. The debt is already charged off. He is working with a credit counselor to resolve the debt but its going to be awhile. I'm wondering if maybe a "consumer statement" will help. There is nothing that indicates that it isn't actually my account. Any advice on wording a credit report consumer statement?
A: You could do the statement. However, most creditors don't bother to read those statements. The ding of that charged off account is going to stay on your credit report for 7 years.
Q: What does it mean when a credit card company can't retrieve my credit report?
I applied for a credit card a while back, and I was declined. This was rather surprising to me, because I've got good credit. Anyway, I got an email from the cc company today stating the reason for my rejection:
" The amount of your purchase required a credit bureau report. We were unable to retrieve a report from a consumer reporting agency."
Now, what? I retrieved my credit score just the other day and it was in the low 700s--so I know that I've *got* a credit score. I applied and got approved for a different credit card just a few weeks before I applied for this one, however--could that have been what went wrong? In any case, should I be worried that they couldn't retrieve my credit report? That just seems awfully strange, and I'm not sure if I need to talk to someone at a credit bureau, or something. . .any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
A: relax you may have made an error on the application. Fill out another one and send it in again. I had one who put the wrong SS# on it, Well guess what, no credit report could be obtained. Yet they had great credit.
Q: How can I get positive marks added to my credit report?
I recently pulled my credit report from one of the three major credit bureaus. On it was listed all negative items. I have had 3 car loans which have been paid on time. How do I get these positive marks added to my credit report. I would like to apply for credit but because of a past credit mistakes I am unable to. I would like to buy a house and want banks to see I've made a change for the better.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
A: If you have been paying and are currently paying for rent, utilities, cable, phone, rent, day care, child support, remittances, or any other recurring montly payments, PRBC can help. The 3 major bureaus normally don't report these types of monthly payments, but PRBC can report payments from 3 years back and current payments and score them in a report that can be considered with your traditional credit reports. There's too much information about this website for me to put it in this answer, so I'll just post the link and let you see for yourself. As for the car loans, I would check with the lenders that you got the loans from to make sure that they reported your payment history with all 3 bureaus as well.
If you're looking for an easy way to start off credit, get a secured card. You might want to check where you do your banking to see if they're available. You have to put a deposit upfront, but after a year of perfect payment history, you should get the deposit back with possible interest. While the card is secured, make small purchases that you can pay off in full, on time, every month. Also, if you have extra cash to temporarily tie up, try adding to the security deposit to increase your credit line. The higher your credit line is, the better it looks once it becomes unsecured. You may start to receive offers for other credit cards as well, but I would repeat the process one more time for another card. When it's all said and done, you should have 2 unsecured cards, a nice savings nest egg, and a good start to you rebuilding your credit!
Good luck!
Q: How to contact the companies on my credit report to pay them off?
I'm trying to pay off my debt on my own, without getting help from a company. But I don't know how to contact the companies I owe on my credit report. There's only the name of the company and a part of my account number. There's no contact number listed for them.
A: Get a credit report. Each debtor has to list ther address and phone number on the report...if it is not on there look it up using the internet...go from there...FYI....if it is an old debt try to settle with them...if it is older than 7yrs send a letter to them and to the reporting agencies

Hope that helps.
